The Kansas City Royals are one of the two teams alongside the St. Louis Cardinals operating from the state of Missouri, United States. The Royals was formed as a result of the expansion in 1969 and have been competing in the league since then. Interestingly, the name of the team “Royals” was coined as a tribute to American Royal, a popular rodeo, horse show, livestock show, and barbecue competition championship that has been taking place in Kansas City since 1988. Moreover, the team has been associated with the American League (AL) since its formation and has represented the West Division and the Central Division.
Unfortunately, the Kansas City Royals have not been as lucky as most other teams when it comes to performance and have been dominant only between 1976-85 and between 2013-15. During these two periods, they won the World Series once each, the American League (AL) title three times, the AL West Division titles seven times, and AL Central Division titles twice. Additionally, they host the “Show-Me Series” with the St. Louis Cardinals as they both belong to the same city.
