The Milwaukee Brewers are an interesting team when it comes to the MLB Trade Deadline. Despite being one of the top teams in the National League, MLB insider Jeff Passan does not believe that the team will take an "all-in" approach before July 30, however, he said that they could still be active.
The Milwaukee Brewers have received contributions from both their veteran stars, as well as some of their top young players such as Jackson Chourio and Sal Frelick. Given the young talent and potential to make a deep run in the postseason, the Brewers could go against the thoughts of Passan and make a splash.
A closer look at three potential players that the Milwaukee Brewers could add before the MLB Trade Deadline
Yusei Kikuchi
If the Brewers are looking to bolster their pitching rotation without giving up too many top-tier prospects, struggling Toronto Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi could fill that void. The veteran pitcher is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, which could lower the asking price of the Blue Jays. Kikuchi could also be viewed as a rental, so the Brewers wouldn't have to worry about any salary impact.
"To jays fans attending the Friday game: Let’s give Yusei Kikuchi a standing O when he walks out and off the mound for the final time in what will likely be his final start. Let’s show our love and appreciation to a guy who battled his ass off. #YuseiCares #ToTheCore #Yusei4Ever" - @Atkins2theSun
Garret Crochet
This is the big one. According to Tim Britton and Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic, Milwaukee is viewed as a potential destination for Chicago White Sox ace Garret Crochet. The 25-year-old still has a few years of team control on his contract, which could make him one of the most sought-after players heading toward the MLB Trade Deadline.
Brent Rooker
Although the Milwaukee Brewers are loaded with outfield talent, superstar Christian Yelich could be sidelined with a significant injury, opening a glaring void in the team's lineup.
"Christian Yelich will see a spine specialist tomorrow to discuss next steps, including the possibility of season-ending back surgery" - @AdamMcCalvy
Oakland Athletics star Brent Rooker can play in the outfield or serve as the team's designated hitter during their run to the postseason. Rooker might be one of the most underrated talents in the MLB and would instantly improve the Milwaukee Brewers lineup.
