Mookie Betts (birth name: Markus Lynn "Mookie" Betts) is a pro-level baseball player from the USA. The 32-year-old was born in Nashville, Tennessee, USA on October 7, 1992, and is playing as a shortstop for the MLB side Los Angeles Dodgers as of September 2024. The former Boston Red Sox player is a Gold Glove Award and Silver Slugger Award winner six times each. Betts, the eight-time All-Star, has won two World Series championships. He earned the accolade of American League's Most Valuable Player in 2018 and is placed second in the list of Wins Above Replacement among the active position players.

He was initially drafted by the Red Sox in 2011 and debuted three years later in 2014 as a second base and the outfield. Betts started playing as a center fielder in 2014 and became a right fielder in 2016. He was compared with his teammate Dustin Pedroia for his play style. Betts made history after winning the batting title, Silver Slugger, Most Valuable Player, Gold Glove, and World Series in a single season in 2016. He started playing for the LA Dodgers in 2020 following his exit from the Red Sox and later signed a 12-year deal for $365 million. Betts clinched the World Series for the second time during his first season with the Dodgers.
