The New York Mets are notable for being one of the latter additions to Major League Baseball (MLB). The formation of the team was the result of the departures of the New York Giants to San Francisco and the Brooklyn Dodgers to Los Angeles after 1957. As a result, the New York Mets was formed in 1962 and has since become the National League (NL) member from New York. They are in their 63rd Major League Baseball (MLB) season in 2024.
The New York Mets have also added several titles to their collection since they were introduced in the league. They are a two-time World Series Champion. Moreover, they have also won the National League Wild Card (NLWC) thrice, the National League Division Series (NLDS) nine times, and earned the NL pennant five times. The New York Mets have notable rivalries with the New York Yankees, the Atlanta Braves, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Philadelphia Phillies. Their home ground has been Citi Field since 2009.
