
Patrick Thomas Murphy is the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers as of October 2025 and has been managing in Major League Baseball (MLB) since 2015. Murphy played college baseball for Florida Atlantic University as a catcher, infielder, and occasionally as a pitcher. He was drafted in the minor leagues for the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants for four years after graduation.
After playing baseball, he became a college baseball coach, first with the Arizona State Sun Devils from 1995 to 2009 and then with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 1988 to 1994. Murphy became the Special Assistant to Baseball Operations for the San Diego Padres in 2010. In this capacity, he oversaw the Padres' minor league affiliates and served as the team's temporary manager in 2015. After Craig Counsell left the Milwaukee Brewers after the 2023 season, he was elevated to the manager. He worked as the team's bench coach from 2016 to 2023.
