The Philadelphia Phillies, popularly known as “Phills” are one of the teams from Pennsylvania in Major League Baseball (MLB). The team has its home ground at Citizens Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The Philadelphia Phillies have become the World Series champions twice so far in their career. Moreover, They have also been NL East Division champions 11 times till now. They enjoy a strong rivalry with teams like the Washington Nationals, New York Mets, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The present manager for the Philadelphia Phillies is Robert Lewis Thomson or Rob Thomson. Nicknamed “Topper”, he is a former coach for the New York Yankees as well as the Philadelphia Phillies. Prior to his coaching career, Thomson also played baseball as a catcher mainly in the minor leagues for the Detroit Tigers. He was also a member of Team Canada at the 1984 Summer Olympics.

After retiring as a player, Rob Thomson worked for and coached the New York Yankees from 1990-2017. He served as the third base coach and gradually also worked as first base coach and bench coach. From 2018-2022, he was the bench coach for the Philadelphia Phillies. In October 2022, he was promoted to the manager of the team. Thomson has also been inducted into the Canadian National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. He has achieved a win-loss record of 249-185 in 434 games as a manager as of September 2024.
