Teoscar Jose Hernandez of Cotui, Dominican Republic, is notable for being one of the newer members of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2024. A former member of teams like the Houston Astros, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Seattle Mariners, he arrived in the MLB on August 12, 2016, with the Houston Astros.

Before starting his MLB career, Teoscar Hernandez played in the Dominican Summer League (DSL) for the DSL Astros. Since making his MLB debut, he has already played 965 games and achieved 192 home runs so far in his career. Teoscar Hernandez is notable for his AL All-Star and NL All-Star awards from participating in his two MLB All-Star games in 2021 and 2024. Additionally, he has been a two-time AL Silver Slugger Award winner in 2020 and 2021. More recently, he also became the Home Run Derby Champion in 2024.

Teoscar Hernandez suffered from a left oblique strain on September 6, 2020, as per the MLB official site. He initially felt a stiffness in his rib cage area. However, his early MRI produced inconclusive results due to too much swelling in the area. The Toronto Blue Jays placed him on the 10-day injured list before activating him on September 16, 2020.

However, Teoscar Hernandez again suffered a left oblique strain on April 14, 2022, as per ESPN. This was due to him grounding out to base in the sixth inning, which caused him to leave the field in pain. The Toronto Blue Jays again placed him on the 10-day injured list and activated him on May 7, 2022, as per the MLB official site.

Covid-19

Teoscar Hernandez suffered from COVID-19 after he tested positive due to exposure from close contact on April 9, 2021, as per the MLB official site. He proved to be symptomatic and had a fever, headaches, and body aches. As a result, the Toronto Blue Jays put him on a 10-day injured list to follow the health protocols for recovering. They activated him on April 30, 2021.

Ankle

Teoscar Hernandez suffered a left ankle/foot injury on September 6, 2024, as per Dodgerblue.com. He picked up the injury after being hit in the left ankle by a slider of 81 mph in the first inning during a game against the Cleveland Guardians. As a result, he fell down in pain and grabbed his ankle and winced in pain. He had to leave the game. Fortunately, his CT and MRI scans proved negative, protecting him from a season-ending injury as per the MLB official site.
