Yu Darvish is a pitcher for the San Diego Padres in Major League Baseball (MLB) as of October 2024. He became part of the Padres organization in 2021 after spending three seasons with the Chicago Cubs from 2018 to 2020. Throughout his career, Darvish has also represented teams such as the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs, along with playing for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Nippon Professional Baseball from 2005 to 2011.

Darvish made his MLB debut on April 9, 2012, with the Texas Rangers. During his inaugural season in MLB, he placed third in the voting for American League Rookie of the Year. As of 2024, he has been selected as an MLB All-Star five times: in 2012, 2013, and 2014, and twice more in both 2017 and 2021. Additionally, he received honors like All-MLB First Team recognition (2020), NL wins leader (2020), and AL strikeout leader (2013). Darvish represented Japan in various baseball competitions. Notably participated as a key player during the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in 2009. Furthermore, he was named for Japan’s roster once again for the World Baseball Classic held in 2023.
