Farid Yu Darvishsefat is a Japanese Pitcher for the San Diego Padres in Major League Baseball (MLB). The 5 time MLB All-Star player has proved to be one of the most effective pitchers in the game. Yu Darvish grew up in Habikino, Osaka, Japan. He started his career in baseball ever since he was in second grade. He enrolled at Tohoku High School and played baseball for the school team. He took his team to the Koshien Tournament for for consecutive times. Furthermore, he also went on to the 85th National High school Baseball Championship but ultimately lost to Joso Gakuin High School. Throughout his high school career, he posted an ERA of 1.10 with 375 strikeouts in 332 and 332 and one third innings.

Darvish gained a lot of attention from several teams during the 2004 MLB draft. Instead he chose to remain in the NPB and joined the Hokkaido Nippon - Ham Fighters.
