Houston Rockets’ Center Alperen Sengun is the NBA's newest European sensation. Hailing from Giresun, Turkey, Sengun has emerged as one of the NBA’s most promising young talents.

Born on July 25, 2002, Sengun started playing professional basketball only at the age of 16 when he joined the Bandirma Kirmizi junior team in 2018. His rapid ascent continued in 2019 when he led his team to victory in the Turkish Junior League championship where he also earned the league's MVP title. At 18, Sengun made waves in the Turkish Super League, debuting with the Teksüt Bandirma senior team, where he averaged 5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

However, it was the 2020-2021 season that truly marked Sengun's breakout. He propelled Turkish giants Beşiktaş to the Super League championship, delivering impressive performances with averages of 19.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. His performances captured the attention of NBA scouts as he was eventually selected 16th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, before being traded to the Houston Rockets.

Since donning the Rockets jersey, Sengun has wasted no time in establishing himself as one of the brightest young talents in the NBA. Standing at 6 feet 11 inches, Sengun's fundamental post-up skills are outstanding. His finesse under the rim and footwork are a sight to behold. Many times, he uses his lethal spin move to knock down shots on the strongest of post defenders. Sengun's elite court vision and passing ability have drawn comparisons to two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.

In the 2022/23 season, Sengun impressed everyone by averaging 14.8 points, 3.9 assists, and 9.0 rebounds per game.
