Born March 23, 1990, Gordon Daniel Hayward is an American professional basketball player who plays as a small forward for the Charlotte Hornets in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Before the NBA, Hayward played one season in college at Butler University. He famously led them all the way to the championship game at the 2010 NCAA tournament against Duke. He was subsequently selected to the All-Tournament Team for his heroics. In two seasons in college, Hayward averaged 14.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
In the 2010 NBA draft, Utah Jazz picked Hayward with the ninth overall pick. After seven seasons with the Jazz, Hayward moved to the Boston Celtics and is currently with the Charlotte Hornets. In the 2022/23 season, the one-time All-Star averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
