Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a Canadian basketball player who currently serves as a backup shooting guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is known for his instant offense off the bench.
Originally from Toronto, Alexander-Walker attended various high schools, including Vaughan Secondary School, St. Louis Christian Academy and Hamilton Heights Christian Academy, where he played alongside his cousin Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets, Alexander-Walker's draft rights were subsequently traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then to the New Orleans Pelicans. In his first three seasons with the Pelicans, NAW showed promise despite being in and out of lineups.
A standout moment occurred on January 13, 2021, when Alexander-Walker started for the Pelicans and scored a career-high 37 points against the LA Clippers. Soon, a one-year stint with the Utah Jazz followed, but he finally found his niche with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2023/24 NBA season.
As a key backup to Anthony Edwards, Alexander-Walker flourished, playing all 82 games, averaging 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game on 39.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Besides NBA, Alexander-Walker has also committed to playing with the Canadian senior men's national team and could be seen at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
