The Navy Midshipmen are one of the three military based teams in college football in the United States. The team represents the United States Naval Academy and have been playing their 131st season of college football after their first season in 1891, as of December 2024. The Navy Midshipmen represent the American Athletic Conference (AAC) in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The team uses Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, located in Annapolis, Maryland, United States as their home stadium.
The Navy Midshipmen have also become the rivals of the other two military based college football teams - the Army Black Knights and the Air Force Falcons over the years. They host the Army-Navy Game with the Army Black Knights and the Commander in Chief's Trophy is presented to the winner of the tri-series between all three teams. The Navy Midshipmen has achieved a record of 713-584-52 in their career so far. Moreover, they have also participated in 24 bowls over the years, as of December 2024.

Navy Midshipmen Football Coach
Brian Newberry is the head coach of the Navy Midshipmen football team, as of the 2024-2025 season. He is also notable for being a former college football player himself. He served as the defensive back for the Baylor Bears from 1992 to 1996. Following his stint as a college football player, Brian Newberry took up the role as a college football coach and has been a part of various colleges. He joined the Navy Midshipmen in 2019 as their defensive coordinator and served in the position till the 2022 season. He was selected to be the new head coach of the team from the 2023 season onwards and is coaching the team in his second season. Brian Newberry has gained a record of 13-10 in his two years with the team, as of December 2024.
