Riley Leonard plays as a quarterback for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team. He will play in the 2024 season as a senior. Leonard’s hometown is in Fairhope, Alabama, where he finished high school at Fairhope High School. Apart from Notre Dame, he received offers to play collegiate football from Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Tulane, among others. He also played basketball in high school and was named two-time basketball AL.com Edward Jones Coastal Male Athlete of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
Leonard completed 37 of 62 passes, one touchdown, and one interception during the 2021 season. When the Alabama native returned for his sophomore season in 2022, he was named the starting quarterback. During Leonard’s time at Duke in 2023, he helped win three games following their thrilling triumph over Clemson in the season opener. On September 24, the Blue Devils defeated Connecticut 41–7, and on September 17, they defeated Northwestern 38–14. Similarly, on September 10, they defeated Lafayette 42–7, as Leonard maintained a 100 percent completion rate. He further collected 121 yards through nine completions and 10 rushes for 13 yards against Louisville. On October 1, Leonard completed 12 passes for 134 yards and one touchdown against Notre Dame.
