Apart from their only ODI World Cup game, Pakistan and Afghanistan have met six more times in ODI cricket. Interestingly, Pakistan have never lost against Afghanistan in the 50-over format, having a 7-0 lead over their neighbours.

Their first-ever ODI clash took place in Sharjah during the 2012 Asia Cup. Shahid Afridi took a brilliant fifer (5/36) in that game.

Pakistan and Afghanistan then faced each other two more times: in the 2014 Asia Cup and during the 2018 Asia Cup. Pakistan recorded a 72-run victory and a 3-wicket win in those games.

However, in August 2023, the two teams played their first-ever ODI bilateral series. The series took place in Sri Lanka, where Pakistan completed a 3-0 whitewash over the Afghans.
