While the news of a potential Metal Gear remake, the new Destiny 2 DLC, and even Spider-Man 2 took center stage, Firewalk Studio's declaration of Concord left a lot to the imagination. The PvP multiplayer has already garnered a lot of interest, especially after PlayStation Studio acquired the studio. This is especially true given that Firewalk Studios is a Destiny veteran developer, suggesting that Concord may be well worth watching for FPS and live-service enthusiasts.

What is Concord about?

Concord, the first original AAA game from Firewalk Studios, was formally introduced at the PlayStation State of Play Showcase. It is the first game from the brand-new studio, which Sony acquired earlier this year, and is a new PvP multiplayer game set in a science fiction universe.

In the brief teaser trailer, a lone starship is seen speeding through a vibrant space rift as a lone voice counts down to warp speed. Beyond that, however, not much is known about the game as the studio confirmed that there isn't much to show off yet because things are still in the production and development stages. But Firewalk Studios revealed, in a blog post, that their aim for the game is to connect people using the power of video games and social play.

“Concord is a bringing together of peoples. It’s the power of games to build connection and inspire social play. The Firewalk team is driven by the type of exciting, unexpected moments and shared experiences that multiplayer games create. Every time you log on is the beginning of a new adventure and every match is an opportunity for a new story. It’s these ideals that define Concord, its unique universe of vibrant worlds, and its rich cast of colorful characters,” reads the post on playstation.com.

Despite the fact that Concord will be a PvP multiplayer first-person shooter, little is known about the game's gameplay outside of the trailer. In the brief teaser trailer, a lone starship is seen speeding through a vibrant space rift as a lone voice counts down to warp speed. The trailer also shows scenes of a battle taking place in the ship's cockpit, complete with unfinished meals and gunshots on the walls. Beyond that, the game's creators, Firewalk Studios, haven't disclosed anything, though they have acknowledged that development is proceeding apace.

What platforms will Concord be released on?

There hasn't been much information released about Concord as of May 2023, but the game's creators, Firewalk Studios, have stated that the PS5 will be the platform for its release. Additionally, there have been rumors that a PC release may be forthcoming, though neither a formal confirmation nor a specific release date have been given.

When will Concord be released?

Back in 2021, PlayStation had announced a collaboration with Firewalk Studios for a multiplayer game. Along with Bungie and Haven, other Sony-owned studios, the studio is intended to be a further development in Sony's expansion of live service games. Jim Ryan, the CEO of PlayStation, first discussed the company's lofty goals for releasing live service games back in 2022.

Because of this, Concord has been given a fall 2024 release date, even though Firewalk Studios hasn't given gamers a specific release date for the game. That was more or less reiterated at the 2023 PlayStation State of Play Showcase alongside the game’s reveal trailer.
