Hades 2 is a sequel to the 2020 original from developer Supergiant Games and a bigger, more ambitious game. Boasting new mechanics, new progression elements, and more, It further refines the roguelike aspects and formula established in the previous adventure. Players will still progress through challenging levels, obtaining new abilities and engaging in hack & slash combat against monsters and creatures from Greek mythos. However, death is permanent, sending players back to base while resetting all obtained boons.
Story
The game is a direct sequel to Hades and puts players in the shoes of Melionae, the immortal Princess of the Underworld and the sister to Zagreus, the protagonist of the original game. The stakes are much higher than before as she must hone her witchcraft skills to thwart dire odds.
Chronos, the Titan of Time has escaped his imprisonment in the Greek underworld of Tartarus and seeks revenge against the Olympians. The new heroine must save her father Hades and the other gods from impending doom by facing off against Chronos’ minions and eventually, facing the personification of Time itself.
Gameplay
Much of the core fundamentals remain unchanged from the 2020 predecessor. Players will proceed through randomly generated levels and battle powerful foes in isometric action combat. Various rewards await acquisition, such as currency, permanent resources, powerups, and Boons - the latter of which are perks granted by the Olympians that can change Melione’s playstyle.
While core mechanics like base expansion and fishing return, new ones like harvesting ingredients and alchemy ensure this is not just a basic rehash. Armed with a new arsenal of weapons and Cast magic, Melione also has a unique set of tools under her belt. Since areas get stronger and stronger, death is inevitable and will send her back to the start; the goal is to grow stronger over multiple runs and see all that is in store, including new encounters and NPCs.

With Early Access, Hades 2 is only on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. However, Supergiant Games has promised that console platforms will get the game eventually.
