Due to the pandemic, the championship wasn't held in 2020.

Before that, in 2019, Victor Perez became the first French golfer to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He scored 22 under par and clinched one of the best wins of his career.

In 2018, Lucas Bjerreggaard edged out Tyrrell Hatton, who was looking to win the event for the third time. The Dane beat British golfers Hatton and Tommy Fleetwood on the final day and won by a stroke.

Tyrrell Hatton won back-to-back trophies in 2016 and 2017. Hatton scored 23 under par and 24 under par, respectively, and became the first golfer to win this event in consecutive years. Since 2013, no other golfer has won this event twice, and Hatton has a chance to make it three wins this week.
