2024 Dana Open: Schedule, venue, top players and more explored

The 2024 Dana Open is set to be played at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, from July 18 to 21. The LPGA Tour's best players will be present in the 39th edition of the tournament to compete for a slice of the $1.75 million purse prize.

The Highland Meadows Golf Club has played host to the Dana Open (formerly known as the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic) from its debut in 1984. The prestigious event is one of the LPGA Tour's longest running championships.

The Ohio course sets up a challenge for its players with its tricky layout. However, several of the best LPGA Tour players have dominated the course in the past. Paula Creamer currently holds the course record of 60 during the opening round of the 2008 Dana Open, where she emerged victorious.

Friday, July 19, has been designated as 'Lexi Thompson Day' at the championship. Former world number one, Lexi Thompson, is set to retire from professional golf at the end of this season. The Dana Open will fly two Ohio Air National Guard F-16 planes at 1:02 pm local time to honor her contribution to the growth of women's golf.

The Dana Open's defending champion, Linn Grant, will head the field as she seeks to defend her title following a tied-for-26th place finish at last week's Amundi Evian Championship. 2023's top-five finisher, Xiyu Lin, will seek to earn the first title of her LPGA Tour career this week.

However, world number one, Nelly Korda, will not be playing in Ohio this week. The reason for her absence remains undisclosed.
