A look at the history of the Genesis Championship and more
The Genesis Championship was inaugurated in 2017. All of its champions have been Korean, including current PGA Tour player Sungjae Im, who won it in 2019.
The event's aggregate and par records (18-under 270) were set by inaugural champion Seung hyuk Kim. Sang hyun Park came close when he won in 2023 at 17 under par.
The winner of the event receives two invitations to as many PGA Tour events, the Genesis Invitational and the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
The tournament will be played at the Golden Bear-designed Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, which opened in 2010. In addition to the Genesis Championship, the course has hosted the Presidents Cup in 2015 and the LPGA Tour's International Crown in 2018.
The field will consist of 90 players from the DP World Tour and 30 players from the Korean PGA Tour (KPGAT). The list includes the top Korean players, such as PGA Tour players Byeong Hun An and Tom Kim. Another American-based circuit player will be Nicolai Hojgaard.
DP World Tour players Sebastian Soderberg and Guido Migliozzi will be looking for a good finish to consolidate their place among the 10 players who will receive a PGA Tour card at the end of the season.
After the Korean event, the European Tour will head to the United Arab Emirates to play the final two tournaments of the season- the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the DP World Tour Championship.
