2024 Open Championship past cut lines: Exploring the cut line for the last 10 years

Golf's final Major tournament of the year, the Open Championship, is set to be played from July 18 to 21 at the Royal Troon Golf Club in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The event will feature 156 of the world's best players as they battle it out for a piece of the whopping $17 million purse prize and 750 FedEx Cup points.

Following the first two rounds of the tournament, a halfway cut will be made. Only the top 70 players, ties included, will move on to the weekend. Players who miss the cut will not earn any money from the grand purse.

Last year's edition of the Open Championship was played at the Royal Liverpool course in Wirral, England. The event had implemented the 10-stroke rule, that saw players within ten strokes of the leader make the cut. However, this rule will not be in play this year. After 36 holes, the cut line for 2023 was set at three over par. 76 players advanced to the weekend, in which Brian Harman won.

In 2022, the cut line was set at even par. Back then, 83 players got through, with Cameron Smith winning the tournament and taking home $2.5 million. In the 2021 Major Championship, the cut was made at one over par after 36 holes, with 77 players advancing to the weekend.

Lathika is one of the newer additions to Sportskeeda’s budding golf journalism team and has brought plenty of in-game experience to the role. Having been a golfer for over 12 years now, some of her crowning achievements include winning titles on the Indian Golf Union Ladies tour and Junior Girls Amateur tour.

Her favorite golfers are Nelly Korda and Tiger Woods, both for their playing style as well as their mental strength. Much of her time away from work is spent playing golf, but she also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and learning new hobbies or upskilling.
