The US Open begins on Thursday, June 13. The third Major of the season is the next opportunity for all golfers in the field to win a Major.
For some, it's a chance to finally break through. For others, it's an opportunity to end a Major drought.
Here are five golfers who haven't won a Major in four years or more and are itching to earn another significant trophy:
Golfers who can break their Major drought at the US Open
6) Tiger Woods
It has been five years since Tiger Woods won a Major. He shocked the world after winning the Masters in 2019.
Before that, the last Major he'd won was the US Open in 2008. It is difficult enough to envision Woods making the cut, but he is someone whose talent is more than enough to put him in this conversation.
5) Dustin Johnson
Dustin Johnson hasn't won a Major since the 2020 Masters Tournament. He's been on LIV Golf for the last few years but has still played in a lot of Majors.
The 2024 US Open marks his next chance to get the monkey off his back and finally put an end to that drought.
4) Adam Scott
Adam Scott hasn't won a Major since 2013 (the Masters), but he's played in 92 straight. He only qualified due to Grayson Murray's untimely death, but that could open the door for him to capture his second Major win at the US Open this weekend.
Scott is a long shot (175-1), but stranger things have happened in golf.
3) Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth hasn't won a Major since 2017 (the Open Championship). He last won the US Open in 2015, so it's been a while since the golfer has earned a trophy of this caliber.
Nevertheless, Spieth is still an extremely talented golfer who is 75-1 to win his fourth career Major and end that lengthy drought. It won't net him a career Grand Slam, but it would be a nice victory for his resume.
2) Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau has just one Major win to his name: the 2020 US Open. He almost added a second last time out at the PGA Championship, shooting 20 under but losing by one stroke to Xander Schauffele.
DeChambeau strikes the ball well, which lends itself to Pinehurst 2's course, so he could be in contention to win another Major this weekend.
1) Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy is one of the best golfers in the world, but he's been unable to win a Major since 2014. He's been chasing a career Grand Slam since then and has been unable to win any Major.
McIlroy has the third-best odds (12-1) behind Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler to win the US Open and finally break his losing streak. He has been in good form of late as well.
