Golf's next major, the 2024 US Open, is set to be played from June 13 to 16 at the iconic Pinehurst Resort and Country Club course No. 2. The course is located in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.
As of June 7, there are currently 156 players who are set to compete for the massive $20 million purse prize and a whopping 750 FedEx Cup Points.
Defending champion Wyndham Clark won with a total score of 10 under par at the Los Angeles Country Club. Clark won by a mere one stroke margin from 2024 Wells Fargo Championship winner Rory McIlroy. Having missed the cut in 2021 and 2022, he became the fifth consecutive player on the PGA Tour to have had their US Open victory be their maiden Major championship win.
With a total score of six under par, Matt Fitzpatrick emerged victorious at the 2022 US Open at played at The Country Club. The Englishman not only won his maiden Major title but also his first victory on the PGA Tour by defeating Will Zalatoris and Scottie Scheffler by one shot. After his win, Fitzpatrick entered into the top ten on the Official World Golf Rankings.
LIV Golf star and Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm was the US Open champion with a total score of six under par at the Torrey Pines Golf Course. The Spaniard's win not only moved him to the number one spot on the Official World Golf Rankings, he also became the first player from Spain to have won the US Open.
Bryson DeChambeau emerged victorious at the 2020 edition of the Major at Winged Foot Golf Club. The LIV Golf player defeated Matthew Wolff to earn his seventh PGA Tour win and first Major. Carding in the only under par final round score, DeChambeau joined Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to have won the US Amateur and US Open at the NCAA Division I Championships.
With a 13 under par score, Gary Woodland took on the legendary Pebble Beach Golf Links in 2019. Winning by a three stroke margin from Brooks Koepka, he tied the 72 hole score record at the US Open set in 2011 with a bogey free 34 consecutive holes.
2019 US Open runner up Brooks Koepka, won the Major back to back in 2018 and 2017 with scores of one over par and an impressing 16 under par respectively at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and Erin Hills. He became the first player to win the US Open back to back since 1989. In 2018, Koepka beat Tommy Fleetwood by one stroke.
2016 US Open winner Dustin Johnson won with a score of four under par at Oakmont Country Club. He earned his first Major with a three stroke margin over Jim Furyk, Shane Lowry, and Scott Piercy. With scores of 67 and 69 the first two days, Johnson became the second player to open the US Open with two rounds in the 60s.
Jordan Spieth conquered Chambers Bay with a total score of five under par. Spieth was in a tie for first place with four players after the third round, but fired a one-under-par final round score to take home the title. 2014 US Open winner, Martin Kaymer shot a total score of nine under par at this year's venue.
