The PGA Tour players are gearing up to compete at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego. The tournament will start with its first round on Thursday, January 22, and conclude with the finale on Sunday, January 25. It's a regular PGA Tour event featuring a full-size field involving some top-ranked golfers such as Ludvig Aberg, Hideki Matsuyama, and Tony Finau, among others.

#1 Xander Schauffele
Xander Schauffele has been struggling with a rib injury, and because of that, he will miss the Farmers Insurance Open. The American golfer played at the Sentry, the season-opening PGA Tour event, and tied for 30th place.
Following that, he also played at the TGL series event on January 7 for the New York Golf Club. However, he is missing from the field this week. He is not playing at the Farmers Insurance Open 2025 and also will not tee off for the TGL match on January 22.
#2 Scottie Scheffler
Fans are waiting for Scottie Scheffler to return to the greens; however, he will not play this week. The American golfer is yet to start his PGA Tour campaign for the 2025 season. Last month, he injured his hand and has been recovering from it. The world No. 1 is expected to play at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am next week.
#3 Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas played in two PGA Tour events in 2025; however, he will miss the Farmers Insurance Open. The American golfer started the season at The Sentry and tied for T26 place. He also competed in last week's The American Express and was close to a victory but ultimately settled in second place.
Thomas will miss the Farmers Insurance Open. However, he will be making his debut at Tiger Woods' TGL golf series this week on January 22, playing for the Atlanta Drive Golf Club.

Patrick Cantlay is another big name missing from the field of the Farmers Insurance Open 2025. He played last week at The American Express and settled in T5 place after playing four rounds of 68, 64, 66, and 70.

Rory McIlroy started his 2025 campaign on the DP World Tour at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, and he is yet to start with his first event of the year on the PGA Tour. The Northern Irish golfer is not playing at the Farmers Insurance Open this week. He last competed in the Dubai Desert Classic and played four rounds of 70, 71, 69, and 66 and tied for fifth place.
