The 2024 Black Desert Championship completed its second round on Saturday morning, October 13, after being suspended the day before due to darkness. The cut line was set at 5-under and 69 players made the cut.
Several interesting players failed to make the cut and will miss out on the weekend's action. Let's take a look at five of them.
5 big names who missed the cut at the 2024 Black Desert Championship
One of the players who missed the cut was Jay Don Blake, who received a sponsor's exemption to make his 500th PGA Tour start at the Black Desert Championship.
Here are five other players who missed the cut:
#1 Mike Weir
The 2003 Masters champion and Utah resident played at the Black Desert Championship on a sponsor's exemption. Mike Weir had an excellent first round, carding seven birdies and four bogeys, but did not fare as well on the second day.
On Friday, Weir carded four birdies, five bogeys, and a double bogey to finish at even par for 36 holes.
#2 Kevin Kisner
The 4-time PGA Tour winner is trying to balance his golf broadcasting career with his professional playing career. His performance at the Black Desert Resort was rather poor with rounds of 78 and 73 (9-over).
In the 2024 season, Kevin Kisner has played 19 tournaments with only 5 cuts made, most recently at the 3M Open in July.
#3 Luke List
The world number 100 also had a good first round at the Black Desert Championship, with six birdies and three bogeys. He was even 5-under after the first nine holes, but it was not the same after that.
In the second round, List could not find his best game with four bogeys and no birdies until the 13th. He eagled the 14th, but added two more bogeys on the 16th and 17th. He finally birdied the 18th to finish at even par.
#4 Michael Kim
Michael Kim had a bogey-free first round with three birdies. He also started the second day very well with three birdies and a bogey on the front nine. But on the back nine his performance dropped off with three bogeys and a birdie. His final score was 3-under and he missed the cut by two strokes.
Kim has failed to make the cut in any of the three tournaments played in the FedEx Cup Fall. He is currently ranked 125th and is in danger of losing full membership for the 2025 season.
#5 Peter Malnati
The winner of the 2024 Valspar Championship shot a 2-over 73 in the first round. He carded an eagle, five birdies, and three bogeys in the second round to get to 2-under, but it was not enough to make the cut.
