The 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship concluded on Sunday, August 18, with Hideki Matsuyama winning the first event of the playoffs. Following the event, only the golfers finishing in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings will advance to the BMW Championship.

PGA Tour players competed in the FedEx St. Jude Championship hoping to secure a spot in the upcoming playoffs. While most of the top-ranked players successfully qualified, some, including Tom Kim and Mackenzie Hughes, narrowly missed securing a place in the BMW Championship field.

Meanwhile, players including Keegan Bradley, Nick Dunlap, and Cam Davis found themselves on the borderline but narrowly made it into the top 50 and will compete in the BMW Championship this week.

#1 Tom Kim

With a final round of 71, Tom Kim slipped down eight spots on the FedEx St. Jude Championship leaderboard, settling in a tie for 50th place. He struggled with his game and narrowly missed securing a spot in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings. Kim finished 51st in the standings and will not compete in the BMW Championship.


#2 Mackenzie Hughes

Mackenzie Hughes finished 52nd in the FedEx Cup standings after the St. Jude Championship, also narrowly missing a spot in the BMW Championship. At the event, he carded rounds of 70, 71, 70, and 69, finishing in 58th place, bringing his playoff journey to an end.


#3 Maverick McNealy

Maverick McNealy secured 53rd place in the FedEx Cup standings and will miss the upcoming playoffs. Despite an impressive outing at the 2024 St. Jude Championship, where he shot rounds of 70, 68, 69, and 64 to finish tied for 12th, it wasn’t enough to break into the top 50.


#4 Patrick Rodgers

Patrick Rodgers also narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2024 BMW Championship. The American golfer had a decent performance at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, finishing tied for 33rd place with rounds of 69, 71, 69, and 67. However, he secured 54th place in the FedEx Cup standings and will miss the upcoming playoffs.


#5 Justin Rose

Justin Rose had a strong start with an opening round of 66 at the St. Jude Championship. He followed it up with another 66, but carded two rounds of 71, settling in a tie for 22nd place. Rose missed a spot in the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs, finishing 55th in the standings.

The 2024 BMW Championship is scheduled to take place from August 22 to 25 at Castle Pines Golf Club.
