The field will be led by Billy Horschel, ranked 17th in the world. Horschel qualified by winning the BMW PGA Championship, one of five events on the European Tour's Rolex Series.

Let's take a look at the top players to watch in the field.

The event will feature several former champions such as Ryo Hisatsune, Nicolas Colsaerts, and Tommy Fleetwood. However, it is other players who could well catch the eye of the fans.

Here are five of them:

#1 Billy Horschel

Billy Horschel is coming off a victory at the BMW PGA Championship two weeks ago, although he missed the cut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Open de France will be Horschel's third start on the DP World Tour in 2024.

The American is coming off a great season in which he won one PGA Tour event (the Corales Puntacana Championship) and finished in the top 10 six times, including a runner-up finish at The Open Championship, his best career finish at a major.

These results helped him return to the top 30 in the FedEx Cup rankings (23rd), qualifying him for all of the Signature Events and three of the four 2025 majors.

#2 Thriston Lawrence

The South African leads the DP World Tour players in line to earn a PGA Tour card. His 2024 season includes five runner-up finishes and four other top 10s in 22 events.

This will be Thriston Lawrence's third appearance at the Open de France. In his two previous starts, his best finish was a tie for 20th in 2022.

#3 Rasmus Hojgaard

Rasmus Hojgaard is on the verge of accomplishing something that narrowly eluded him in 2023: earning his PGA Tour card to play on the same circuit as his brother Nicolai. He is currently the second-highest ranked player on the DP World Tour among those chasing that goal.

The Dane has played the Open de France twice with excellent results. He finished second in 2022 and fourth in 2023. He arrives at Le Golf National in 2024 with one victory (Irish Open) and five other top 10 finishes in 19 tournaments.

#4 Matteo Manassero

The Italian has enjoyed a career resurgence since last season, when he ended a 10-year winless streak. He is now on the verge of earning his first PGA Tour card.

In 2024, Matteo Manassero has played 26 tournaments, with one win and seven other top 10s. He enters the Open de France with three top 10s in his last five starts.

#5 Niklas Norgaard

The 2024 season has been by far the best of Niklas Norgaard's professional career. Not only did he earn his first DP World Tour victory, but his overall performance has put him in prime position to play on the PGA Tour in 2025.

Norgaard has only played the Open de France in his rookie season on the DP World Tour (2022, missed the cut).
