The Travelers Championship is this weekend. Despite coming one week after a Major championship, the field is full of exceptional golfers. One notable absence is Rory McIlroy, who is taking some time off.

LIV Golf members, including Bryson DeChambeau, will head back to their own tour as well. Among the 72 golfers playing this weekend, here are the five that fans will want to keep an eye on at all times.

Players to keep an eye on at the Travelers Championship

5) Michael Thorbjornsen

Former top amateur Michael Thorbjornsen has officially gone pro and his debut as such is this weekend.

For the first time ever, the golfer will compete against PGA Tour players as peers at the Travelers Championship, and it will be very interesting to see how he fares in his first pro outing. He was the top-ranked amateur, but the competition has leveled up.

4) Brian Harman

The next Major tournament on the schedule is not until July, but the Open Championship's reigning champion is Brian Harman.

Golf is now entering the build-up to that tournament, so everything between now and then is vital for Harman to put on a good title defense. The Travelers Championship is the first step towards that.

3) Viktor Hovland

Viktor Hovland appeared to be turning a corner at the PGA Championship, shooting 18 under and coming in third.

However, that momentum faded away at the US Open as he shot six over and missed the cut. He hasn't really been able to put it together this year, and he will once again need to rebound from a difficult showing.

2) Ludvig Aberg

While his overall performance at the US Open (one over) wasn't great, finishing in the top 12 of a Major is. That's what Ludvig Aberg did last weekend as he continues to showcase why he's a special talent.

Aberg is still looking for his second career victory and his first in 2024, and he's come close frequently. This weekend marks a great opportunity for him to add one to his tally.

1) Scottie Scheffler

Two things make Scottie Scheffler must-watch television this weekend. First, it is the very first time this year that he's playing directly off a bad outing. Prior to the US Open, his worst placement was a T17. He made the cut at Pinehurst thanks to a bit of luck, but couldn't improve and still finished tied for 41st at eight over.

Second, despite all of that, he's still the overwhelming betting favorite (4-1 per CBS Sports) this weekend at the Travelers Championship.
