The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play will take place this week starting Wednesday, March 22, and will continue until March 26 at the Austin Country Club.

The tournament returns with the 2015 format having a group of four members who will compete against each other to be part of the top 16 single elimination match.

The 16 groups were revealed on Monday, March 20, by officials randomly using ping-pong lottery machines. Fans are very excited about the tournament as it would be interesting to see which players will make it to the top 16 and play in the final. Here are the five matchups to watch out for in the 2023 WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.

5 matchups to watch out for at the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play

1) Scottie Scheffler, Tom Kim, Alex Noren, and Davis Riley

Group 1 consists of Scotti Scheffler (1), Tom Kim (17), Alex Noren (38), and Davis Riley (54). Scottie won The Players Championship two weeks ago and also returned to the world's No.1 position. He is also the defending matchplay champion, so it would undoubtedly be interesting to watch him play against Kim, Noren, and Riley.

Kim is preparing for the Presidents Cup and will be looking forward to winning in this format. Noren and Riley are not in their best form yet. Hopefully, they will push up at Match Play. Either way, fans will have their eyes on this group to see who will shine at the tournament.

2) Jon Rahm, Billy Horschel, Keith Mitchell, and Rickie Fowler

Many would like to see if Billy Horschel, Keith Mitchella, and Rickie Fowler are capable of bringing down the current World No. 2, Jon Rahm, who has won three PGA Tour titles in the last three months.

Mitchell and Horschell have been struggling with their performances while Rickie is playing pretty amazingly. Fowler is also looking for a Masters invite, so he has to outshine the tournament and bring down Jon Rahm.

3) Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Denny McCarthy, and Scott Stallings

The most interesting match play would be between Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Denny McCarthy, and Scott Stallings. McIlroy has missed the cut at The Players Championship, while Bradley is playing remarkably well these days, making it more interesting to see who will advance over the others in pool play.

Denny McCarthy will have his first taste of the Match Play while Stallings is playing after 2014 at the tournament

4) Max Homa, Hideki Matsuyama, Kevin Kisner, and Justin Suh

This group is very interesting as fans have their eyes on all of the players. Homa has won the Farmers Insurance Open this year, while Justin Suh is getting back in his form.

Former Masters winner Hideki Matsuyama might surprise people with his performance as his fate in pool play remains undetermined. However, Kisner is pretty cool in Match Play games and might outshine them in the tournament.

5) Collin Morikawa, Jason Day, Adam Svensson, and Victor Perez

Collin Morikawa is one of the most consistent golfers. His game is on track and has the perfect opportunity to make it to the finals. Adam Svensson had amazing gameplay in the fall of 2022 after winning the RSM Classic, but his performance in the pool-playing game is yet to be known.

Jason Day won the tournament in 2016 and it would be interesting to see him try for another win. Victor Perez reached the semifinals in 2021 on Match Play.
