The 2024 PGA Championship finally completed its second round this Saturday, May 18, after Friday's suspension due to darkness. The cut line was set at 1 under, with notable names missing out on playing the weekend.

Missing the cut were several players who were expected to perform better, such as Ludvig Aberg and Akshay Bhatia. But it was also the case of several major champions, with plenty of experience in this kind of events.

Among the past major champions who failed to make the cut were some of today's best players, such as Jon Rahm. Let's take a look:

#1 Jon Rahm

The Spaniard missed the cut at the 2024 PGA Championship by just one stroke, finishing his two rounds with a score of even par 142. Jon Rahm had nine birdies, seven bogeys and one double bogey at Valhalla Golf Club.

Rahm is a double major champion, having won the US Open in 2021 and The Masters in 2023. He was considered among the top favorites before starting the 2024 PGA Championship.

#2 Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods managed to complete the first two rounds of the 2024 PGA Championship with a score of 7-over 149. His performance included six birdies, seven bogeys, one double bogey and one triple bogey. During the event he was physically exhausted and visibly sweaty.

Woods is the second highest winner of major championships in history, with 15. He has won the PGA title four times, once at Valhalla Golf Club (2000).

Phil Mickelson played the first 36 holes of the PGA Championship for a score of 4 over 146. His performance included six birdies, six bogeys and two double bogeys.

Mickelson is a six-time major champion and two-time winner of the PGA event, most recently in 2021.

#4 Wyndham Clark

Wyndham Clark had been one of the season's top players on the PGA Tour, and was even considered among the top favorites prior to the start of the 2024 PGA Championship.

But Clark was never able to find his best game at Valhalla Golf Club, and completed the first two rounds with a score of 4 over 146. His performance included six birdies, eight bogeys and one double bogey.

Clark became a major champion by winning the 2023 U.S. Open.
