The second round of the Sony Open in Hawaii was completed on Friday, January 10, at the Wai'alae Country Club in Honolulu. The usual cut line after 36 holes was drawn at 3 under par and 61 players made it through.

Among the players who missed the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii were some surprising names. Let's take a look at some of them.

5 players who missed the cut at the 2025 Sony Open in Hawaii

The Sony Open in Hawaii is the first cut of the 2025 season on the PGA Tour, as it is the first full-field event of the year.

#1 Luke Clanton

Luke Clanton's participation in the Sony Open in Hawaii was met with high expectations. The World's No. 1 ranked amateur had a chance to earn his PGA Tour card in Honolulu if he finished in the top 5.

This was not unfamiliar territory for Clanton, who had two top-5 finishes on the PGA Tour in 2024, including a runner-up finish at the RSM Classic. However, he was unable to repeat that performance in Hawaii, missing the cut by two strokes after rounds of 69 and 70.

#2 Corey Conners

The Canadian came into the Sony Open having tied for 5th at The Sentry the week before. It was expected that he would be able to advance in a tournament where he had never missed the cut in six previous appearances.

However, Corey Conners did not find his best golf in Hawaii and missed the cut by two strokes, with rounds of 72 and 67.

#3 Cam Davis

Cam Davis also came to Wai'alae Country Club after a strong finish at The Sentry. He finished tied for 13th at the Kapalua Resort, but was in contention until almost the final holes.

The Australian got off to a good start at the Sony Open, carding a 67 in the first round. A day later, however, he carded a 72 to miss the cut by two strokes.

#4 Austin Eckroat

The 2024 season was the best of Austin Eckroat's PGA Tour career to date, including two wins (Cognizant Classic and World Wide Technology Championship) and a top-10 finish. Eckroat continued that momentum, finishing tied for 15th at The Sentry, the first event of 2025.

He didn't fare as well at the Sony Open, shooting 68 and 70 to miss the cut by two strokes. It is his first missed cut in three appearances at the tournament.

#5 Byeong Hun An

The Korean did not start well at the Sony Open, carding a 72 in the first round with two birdies and four bogeys. He picked up the pace in the second round, carding an eagle and two birdies with no bogeys for a 66, but it was not enough and he missed the cut by one stroke.
