In this article, we will look at five such sleeper picks at the 2025 Sony Open:

#5. Takumi Kanaya is a sleeper pick at the 2025 Sony Open

26-year-old Japanese golfer Takumi Kanaya will be playing his first event of the 2025 PGA Tour at the Sony Open. At this event in Hawaii, Kanaya has +140 odds (as per PGA Tour.com) to finish in the top 40. It's important to mention that last year the Japanese golfer failed to make the cut in this event.

However, a strong end to the 2024 season puts him in a good place to finish in the top 40. It will be interesting to see how Kanaya performs on January 9th and whether he can live up to the potential that was seen in him when he was an amateur.

#4. Taylor Montgomery

At the 2025 Sony Open, Taylor Montgomery has +1200 odds of finishing in the top 20. In 2024, Montgomery played in many tournaments on the PGA Tour. While he did not win any, the 29-year-old golfer showed some great promise which could translate to the course when he steps out to play the Sony Open.

As a matter of fact, at the Sony Open last year, Mongomery was able to finish in the top 20 as he registered a T13 finish. However, his best finish in the entire season came at The Players Championship where he tied for third place.

#3. Jacob Bridgeman

Like Taylor Montgomery, Jacob Bridgeman is also a +1200 favorite, but to finish in the top 10 of the 2025 Sony Open. Last year, Bridgeman registered several successful performances. The fact Bridgeman could not win a tournament is indeed sad because he finished in the top 20 on many occasions.

His best finish was at the Sanderson Farms Championship, where he tied for 11th place. While the 25-year-old is still young in his professional golf career, he might very well have what it takes to turn heads in Hawaii with his on-course performance.

#2. Patton Kizzire

Patton Kizzire has +2000 odds to finish in the top 5 (with ties) at the 2025 Sony Open. This does not come as a surprise because Kizzire had an extremely successful season in 2024. Kizzire registered his third win on the PGA Tour last year as he won the Procore Championship.

However, that's not the only thing that makes him dangerous. If anything, Kizzire is someone who knows what it takes to win the Sony Open, as he won this tournament in 2018. It will be interesting to see if he can win it again.

#1. Billy Horschel

At the 2025 Sony Open, Billy Horschel is a veteran name who has +8000 odds to potentially win the tournament. A veteran of the game, Horschel will take part in the tournament in Hawaii after experiencing a very good 2024 season on the PGA Tour.

While he registered a couple of top 10 and top 20 performances, his biggest reward came when he was able to win the Corales Puntacana Championship. Hence, last year's strong showing could motivate Horschel to do better, which could eventually lead him to win.
