Zach Johnson pocketed his second Major at the Open this Monday in a thrilling playoff against 2010 Open champion Louis Ousthuizen and Marc Leishman.

The American held his cool in Round 4 as he finished with a 6-under 66 by holing a 30 foot birdie putt on the 18th hole.

Here are 5 things you didn’t know about the Johnson:

1. His wife Kim Barclay has played a huge role in his success

“Behind every successful man, there is a woman.” This adage can’t be more true in case of Johnson.

The Iowa golfer was struggling on the tour missing the first six cuts of the Web.com (formerly Nationwide) Tour in 2000. He tasted success with Kim by his side.

Johnson won the Hooters tour in 2001, made his first cut on the PGA tour in 2002 and won the Web.com Tour Player of the Year award in 2003, before they married.

2. He runs the Zach Johnson Foundation

Johnson’s non-profit organisation ‘The Zach Johnson Foundation’ helps children residing in Cedar Rapids lead happy and healthy lives. In association with Transamerica, Zach and Kim have raised more than $900,000 to help agencies serving children in need.

3. Johnson hit a hole in one on the 9th hole at the 2014 US Open.
4. Johnson is one of only two players to have shot a round of 60 on the PGA tour.
5. The 39-year-old was the No. 2 golfer on the golf team at Drake College.
