Before the FedEx Cup playoffs start in August, only two PGA events are left on the roster for golfers to qualify for the FedEx Cup series. Previously, 125 golfers on the standings were selected for the first FedEx event but the rule changed last year.

In 2023 only 70 golfers on the FedEx standings qualified for the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Following that, the top 50 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship go to the BMW Championship. Then, the top 30 at the BMW Championship proceed to the Tour Championship. After the Tour Championship, the golfer atop the standings receives the FedEx Cup.

This year, Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele are in first and second place, respectively, on the FedEx Cup standings and are thus confirmed to go to the Playoffs. However, there are players whose fate lies in a flummox.

Here's a list of seven such golfers who need to make the most of the remaining PGA Tour events - the 3M Open and the Wyndham Championship - to make it to the FedEx Playoffs.

7 golfers on the verge of losing out on the FedEx Cup Playoffs

#1 Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler has missed three cuts in his last six starts. In the remaining three, he finished T20 at the Travelers Championship, T31 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and T71 at The Open Championship.

Currently, Fowler is 98th on the FedEx standings and his last hope to qualify for the series were the 3M Open and the Wyndham Championship. However, he is not in the field for the 3M Open and there has been no official confirmation as for the Wyndham Championship.

#2 Lucas Glover

Lucas Glover won the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship last year. This year he is 71st on the FedEx standings and has withdrawn from the 3M Open.

In his last few performances, Glover missed the last two cutlines and landed at T44 and T23 at the Travelers Championship and the John Deere Classic, respectively.

#3 Lee Hodges

Hodges is 72nd on the standings and needs a strong week at TPC Twin Cities to get into the FedEx Playoffs. The golfer will be returning to the 3M Open as a defending champion.

#4 Keith Mitchell

The golfer sits at 75th and likewise has two PGA events to move up on the standings. In his last five starts, Mitchell missed three cutlines. In the other two events - he landed a top-10 at the RBC Canadian Open and secured a top-20 finish at the John Deere Classic.

#5 Kurt Kitayama

Kitayama is 77 on the FedEx list and needs a good week at the 3M Open to better his position. He won no event this year.

#6 Nicolai Hojgaaed

He is 76th on the standings and has a single top-10 finish in the 2024 PGA Tour season as of yet - T2 at the Farmers Insurance Open.

#7 Charley Hoffman

He is in 80th place on the standings and has missed 7 cutlines through the year. Hoffman didn't play at The Open Championship.
