American professional golfer Aaron Kyle Wise was born on June 21, 1996, and competes on the PGA Tour. He won the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2018, his first victory on the PGA Tour, and he was voted the tour's Rookie of the Year. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Wise immigrated to the United States with his family at three. He was raised in Lake Elsinore, California, and graduated in 2014 from Santiago High School in Corona. Despite being well recruited, he decided to play college golf at the University of Oregon in Eugene. There, he earned the NCAA individual title in addition to helping the host Ducks win the NCAA championship in 2016. In May 2018, Wise, at 21 years old, won his maiden race on the PGA Tour at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Texas. It was his 18th start overall on the tour. At the brand-new Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, he fired a final round 65 for 261 (−23), three strokes clear of co-leader Marc Leishman, who came in second. After winning, Wise's position in the world rankings rose from 99th to 66th, a career-high. The 2018 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year title went to Wise.
