Former No. 1 golfer Adam Scott held the position for 13 weeks in 2014. Before joining the PGA, Scott competed on the European Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia. Scott was named a Member of the Order of Australia in June 2022 as part of the 2022 Queen's Birthday Honours, in recognition of his "significant service to golf at the elite level."

The only Australian to win the Masters Tournament in 2013, Scott has a total of 32 victories, out of which 14 are from the PGA. His other notable wins include the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2016, the Players Championship in 2004, and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in 2011.

His runner-up performance at the 2012 Open Championship is also noteworthy, given that Ernie Els won by a small margin of one shot.

At the 2021 Wyndham Championship, after 72 holes, Scott and five other players shared the lead. Kevin Kisner won the playoff on the second hole after Scott missed a close putt to win the first extra hole.

Adam Scott’s Masters Tournament Wins

Adam Scott won the 2013 Masters Tournament.

In the final round of the 2013 Masters Tournament, Scott broke away from the trailing pack to tie for the lead going into the 72nd hole. Scott went on to make a birdie on the 18th hole.

But Angel Cabrera, the 2009 Masters champion, also made a birdie on the 72nd hole to level Scott at under-nine, forcing a sudden-death playoff. Cabrera missed a birdie by a mere inch on the opening hole (18), which both parred.

Cabrera missed his birdie putt by inches on hole 10 again, giving Scott a 12-footer to win the championship, which he holed. The first-ever Australian to win the Masters was Scott, who also won his first major title. Many also saw it as payback for his losing the Open Championship the year before.

Adam Scott’s Open Championship Wins

Adam Scott hasn’t won an Open Championship yet.

During the 2012 Open Championship, Scott recorded a six-under-par 64 to lead by one stroke after the first round. After Scott shot 67 in the second round, Brandt Snedeker equaled this to lead Scott by one stroke heading into the weekend. After shooting 68 in the third round, Scott led Brandt Snedeker and Graeme McDowell by four strokes going into the fourth round.

Scott had four holes remaining in the final round when he made a birdie on the 14th and 15th. On the 16th hole, he overhit his approach shot toward the back of the green, leaving himself with a long putt for birdie. He could not convert the par putt since he missed it by around five feet.

While Scott was teeing off on the 17th, Ernie Els had made a birdie on the last hole to move up to the top spot in the clubhouse at seven under, one shot behind Scott. Scott mishit his approach ball from the middle of the fairway on the 17th, landing in very dense rough behind the green. He was only able to pitch out to a distance of 20 feet, and he missed the ensuing putt, making his third bogey and tying Els for the lead.

Scott discovered a bunker off the tee and his ball went up close underneath the lip, limiting his ability to pitch out sideways on the final hole, where he needed a birdie to win or a par to go to a playoff with Els.

His third stroke was an iron, leaving him with an eight-foot par putt to send the match into a playoff. Scott finished the round with another bogey when he just missed the putt on the outer edge of the hole. He finished one stroke behind the winner, Ernie Els, at six under after firing a final-round score of 75.
