Tiger Woods and his son Charlie Woods have concluded the first round of the 2024 PNC Championship at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. The 15-year-old demonstrated incredible skill on the first hole, offering fans a glimpse of his father's legacy.
The high school golfer teed off the opening round and placed his drive very well on the fairway. As the event is a scramble, Woods played the second shot that barely made it onto the green, leaving Charlie with a challenging putt.
However, the teenager showcased his resilience by draining the 18-footer for an impressive birdie on the Ritz Carlton Golf Club's 387-yard-long first hole. Before the golf ball fell into the cup, Charlie was sure it would go in and proceeded to walk the ball into the hole—a signature move that his father is famed for.
As the prodigy took his first step after putting, Woods immediately fist-pumped to celebrate the great start. Here's a look into the scene at the 2024 PNC Championship with the 82-time PGA Tour winner looking visibly proud of his son (via X @GOLF_com):
During a post-round interview with the PGA Tour, Charlie admitted to hitting a few strays. He went on to credit his father for setting him up well with his irons and wedges which gave the Benjamin School golfer a solid chance for carding in birdies.
Tiger Woods said (via PGA Tour):
"It's a scramble, so we're trying to pull off each and every shot for each other, and to ham-and-egg, and I think we did that great pretty much the entire day. Charlie made pretty much most of the putts today."
The father-son duo went on to thrive under the great pressures of the course and are tied for the lead following the conclusion of the first round.
