Morikawa, a former world No. 1 amateur, won his first title at age 16, the 2013 Western Junior Championship. He played collegiate golf at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2015 to 2019, earning 10 amateur victories before turning professional. Morikawa earned his first professional win at the Barracuda Championship and later claimed two major titles, the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 Open Championship.
