After a six-under-par 66 third round in April 2019, Molinari was the 54-hole leader at the Masters at 13 under, two strokes ahead of Tony Finau and Tiger Woods. Molinari led for two-thirds of the final round until his tee shot found the water on the par-3 12th, ending in a double bogey. On the 15th, he found the water again, resulting in another double bogey and dropping out of contention. He finished with a round of 74 and a T5 result, his highest Masters effort to date.
