Frederick "Fred" Couples, an American professional golfer, competed on the PGA Tour Champions as of March 2025. Born on October 3, 1959, he attended the University of Houston and competed in college golf. As an amateur, he won his first professional tournament, the Washington State Buick Open, in 1978. He became professional in 1980, joined the PGA Tour in 1981, and won his first PGA event at the 1983 Kemper Open (which was canceled in 2006). As of March 2025, he had 64 professional wins, with 15 on the PGA Tour and 16 on the PGA Tour Champions.

Couples' most notable wins include the Masters Tournament in 1992 and the Players Championship in 1984 and 1996. In March 1992, he also became the world's number one. This season was his most successful, as he won the PGA Tour Player of the Year, the money list, the Byron Nelson Award, and the Vardon Trophy. In 2010, he joined the PGA Tour Champions, which is for players aged 50 and older, and was named Rookie of the Year. He earned the Champions Tour's Byron Nelson Award in 2010, 2012, and 2013.
