American professional golfer Frederick Steven Couples was born on October 3, 1959, and has played on both the PGA and PGA Tour Champions. He was formerly ranked #1 globally and has won 64 professional competitions, including the Players Championship in 1984 and 1996 and the Masters Tournament in 1992.

In the 87th edition of the Masters Tournament, Couples—who was 63 years, six months, and five days old—became the oldest player ever to make the cut. Couples won the Senior Players Championship in August 2011 and the Senior Open Championship in July 2012, his first major senior victory. 2013 saw his induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

During the height of his playing career, Couples was known by the nickname "Boom Boom" for his long, precise drives off the tee.
