Pune, Dec 11 (IANS) Gauri Monga and Gurbani Singh shared the lead after round one of the Usha Western India Ladies and Junior Girls Championships being held at the Poona Golf Course here Wednesday.
Both players returned with identical scores of one over par 72 to finish day one at the top.
Gauri, who created a sensation by finishing tied fifth at the recently concluded Women’s Indian Open, continued her good run as she carded five birdies on 4th, 5th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes. However, a couple of bogeys and double bogeys each, meant she couldn’t even finish with a par score. Gurbani carded three birdies on 5th, 8th and 13th holes and had four bogeys.
Ridhima Dilawari is placed third with a score of 4 over 75. She had four birdies but her three double bogeys and two bogeys spoiled her chances of a better total. Shweta Mansingh, Vrishali Sinha, Millie Saroha and Aarya Tikekar are placed joint fourth with identical scores of 6 over 77.
