Tommy Fleetwood will be making his second appearace at the Olympic games this week. Following a tied-for-16th place at Tokyo in 2020, the 33 year old seeks to earn Great Britan a gold medal in Paris.

The Englishman has been residing in Dubai over the past few years. However, the knife attack that took place in his hometown of Southport left him in a state of shock. Three children and five young adults fell victim to the attack at a Taylor Swift themed children's club and tragically, lost their lives.

Fleetwood holds Southport very close to his heart. As his father and relatives reside there, the DP Word Tour star was concerned about their wellbeing. Here's what the Englishman had to tell the Independent about the tragic incident:

" It's terrible, it's obviously tragic for the town and everybody but for the people involved, it's just horrific. I don’t know what to say. Stuff like this happens way more often than we would all like. You don’t expect it to happen in a little town like Southport. First thoughts, of course, are always with the families where they’ve tragically lost someone or they’re going to have to deal with it for the rest of their lives and it’s just not fair. When one of you gets hurt, you feel like all of you do. That’s just what home is. Everybody is feeling it, for sure, but nobody as much as the families that are involved and that’s what comes first. "

As the attack happened in a club meant for children, the father of three sympathised with the families of the children who have passed away. Fleetwood took to X to say:

" As a parent myself it’s difficult to even comprehend what has happened and what they have ahead of them, but I know the whole community in Southport will come together to support them. My heart will always be in Southport and together with my family we are sending all of our love to the people of my home town. "
