Jakarta, Nov 21 (IANS) An in-form Scott Hend of Australia will be among 16 golfers ranked inside top-20 on the Asian Tour Order of Merit who will grace the $750,000 Indonesia Open next week.
More than 35 Asian Tour winners will feature in the showpiece including two-time Major champion Retief Goosen of South Africa, Daniel Chopra of Sweden and India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar.
Prom Meesawat of Thailand, who lost in a play-off to Liang Wen-chong of China last week, Shiv Kapur of India, Siddikur of Bangladesh, Lin Wen-tang of Chinese Taipei and Berry Henson of the United States, all Asian Tour winners, will also be among the field at the Pantai Indah Kapuk course at Damai Indah Golf.
Rory Hie of Indonesia, aiming for his first Asian Tour title, will lead the home charge alongside Andik Mauludin, George Gandranata, and Benny Kasiadi from Nov 28 to Dec 1.
Hend, ranked second on the Order of Merit, will make a welcome return to the venue where he won his first Asian Tour title in 2008, going on to win four other titles.
“I’m working physically and mentally on my game. If you want another target, it would be to win again. Once you win, you get the feeling of how good it is to win and you want to keep winning. You’re not fortunate enough to win every year and I’ve been lucky enough to win once last year and three times this year,” Hend said.
Established in 1974, the Indonesia Open is making a return to the Asian Tour after a lapse of several years.
