In 2015, Harold Varner III became the first African American to progress to the PGA Tour via the Web.com Tour. Varner’s two best-known performances as a pro thus far have been winning the 2022 Saudi International with a 120-foot eagle putt on the final hole and tying for second going into the 2019 PGA Championship final round.
Varner joined LIV Golf in August 2022. At the seventh event of the 2023 season of LIV Golf, held on Sunday at Trump National in the Sterling, Virginia, suburbs, Varner earned his first LIV Golf victory. The native of North Carolina made a birdie on his last hole to defeat Branden Grace by one shot and win the $4 million grand prize.
