The American professional golfer Harris English was born on July 23, 1989. English participated in two 2011 Nationwide Tour events as an amateur: the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational, which he won in July, and the Stadion Athens Classic at UGA in May. On the tour, he was just the third amateur to win, after Russell Henley in 2011 and Daniel Summerhays in 2007.

He turned professional in 2011 and initially played on the Nationwide Tour, where he made his professional debut at the Soboba Golf Classic. He finished tied for 13th at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, through which he earned his 2012 PGA Tour card.

English's rookie season was good enough to keep his PGA card, as he had three top-3 finishes and made 22 cuts out of 27 events. He earned his first professional win at the 2013 FedEx St. Jude Classic over Phil Mickelson and Scott Stallings. He won by a margin of two strokes and a score of 268, under 12.

Harris defeated Kramer Hickok in the Travelers Championship in June 2021 with a birdie on the eighth playoff hole. In the history of the PGA Tour, it was the second-longest playoff. English competed for the United States in the 2021 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin, in September of that year. He finished 1-2–0, including a defeat in his Sunday singles match against Lee Westwood, while the U.S. team prevailed 19–9.

Since his 2021 Travelers Championship win, he hasn't won another event as of March 2024. In 2023, he finished tied for runner-up with Rory McIlroy at the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a score of 280, under 8, being defeated by one stroke by Kurt Kitayama. Also at the 2023 U.S. Open, he finished tied for 8th place with Joohyung Kim with a score of 276, under 4.
