The TGL is set to premiere tonight on ESPN+ with Ludvig Aberg in the starting lineup for The Bay Golf Club as they take on New York Golf Club at 9PM EST at the innovative SoFi Center. During a recent episode of the PGA Tour Radio's Gravy & The Sleeze with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz exclusive on Sirius XM, golf insider Marty Smith highlighted the Swedish golfer.

While Aberg's golfing talent is undeniably good, Smith couldn't help but bring up another one of his striking attributes - his looks. The ESPN broadcaster was offering the hosts a look into the media opportunities for players tonight at the inaugural match by referencing the PGA Tour superstar and his fellow competitor Rory McIlroy.

Smith said (via Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio):

"If you're someone like Rory [McIlroy]. Let's just take Rory as an example, who's on TV constantly during Major championships. Or now Ludvig [Aberg] because he's beautiful, right? I mean, the man is handsome. It's like I wonder if Rickie Fowler is giving him tips on how to be America's golf heartthrob."

The comment left the hosts chuckling. Aberg has been a sensation on the PGA Tour and has made waves with his incredible golf skills. As Smith noted, the TGL matches present a unique opportunity for players to connect with fans in a new way. He explained that the World No. 6 golfer has an opportunity to enhance his profile even further.

Who are Ludvig Aberg's teammates in TGL's The Bay Golf Club?

The Bay Golf Club is a four-man team comprising of Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, and Shane Lowry, representing the Bay area. However, only three of them are a part of TGL's opening match. Lee will sit out the game against the New York Golf Club as he is in Australia.

Aberg is the youngest player on the team at just 24 years old. His fellow Ryder Cup teammate Lowry is the oldest at 37 years old. Lee and Clark are 25 and 31 years old, respectively. As a team, they hold seven victories on the PGA Tour. They also hold a combined 98 finishes inside the top-ten on the Tour.

The team has eight investors with Marc Lasry's Avenue Sports Fund holding the majority stake. Here's a look into all the investors (via TGL):

  • Avenue Sports Fund
  • Stephen Curry
  • Andre Iguodala
  • Klay Thompson
  • John Stones
  • Alex Albon
  • Leonardo Fioravanti
  • Kanoa Igarashi

While their first match will be played today at the SoFi Center in Florida, their next match will be on February 17 against Atlanta Drive Golf Club. The tournament will begin at 4:00 PM EST and will be broadcasted live on ESPN and ESPN+.
