Rumors of Tiger Woods being the captain of Team USA for the 2025 Ryder Cup emerged earlier this year. However, the 15-time Major Championship winner has reportedly turned down the offer for captaincy.

Stewart Cink, the winner of the PGA Tour, is reportedly in the running to be the nation's captain at the Bethpage Black Golf Course in New York the following week. Cink, who will be competing at the upcoming Genesis Scottish Open, responded to the news by saying that he was not shocked by Woods' decision. Here's what Cink had to tell reporters who were present at the premises (via Bunkered.co.uk):

" It doesn’t surprise me that he’s turned it down because since he’s stepped into the board position – the PGA Tour is pretty busy right now and he’s got a lot away from the course too with his injuries and trying to recover and get himself in the kind of condition that he can play. He wants to play. I’m not surprised he turned it down. It’s probably a pretty big role when you consider adding it to all that stuff."

The PGA of America will reveal the captain of the United States squad for the 2025 Ryder Cup tomorrow. As of now, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Keegan Bradley, and Fred Couples are the rumored candidates.
