The fourth Major of the 2024 season, The Open Championship, is less than a week away. All the details of the event are being finalized, including the field, which is nearly complete.
LIV Golf will be represented by 16 players who qualified either through various exemption categories, The Open Qualifying Series or Final Qualifying. The group will be led by reigning US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau.

In addition, two LIV Golf reserve players will be on the field for The Open Championship. One is Laurie Canter, who earned his spot as one of the top five players, not otherwise exempt, within the top 20 of the 2024 Race to Dubai Rankings.
The other is John Catlin, who qualified at one of The Open Qualifying Series events, the Malaysian Open on the Asian Tour.
This group features some of the best players in the league, including Niemann and Rahm, who lead the individual rankings for the season. DeChambeau is also a standout, having achieved three top-10 finishes in majors during 2024, including one victory.
Notable is the absence of Talor Gooch, the 2023 season's individual champion. Gooch did not receive a special invitation to the event and did not attempt to qualify through The Open Qualifying Series or Final Qualifying.
The Open Championship field at a glance
The field for The Open Championship will consist of 156 players, 155 of which have already been determined. The remaining spot is reserved for the highest-ranked player in the Genesis Scottish Open, who is not otherwise exempt.
The field includes today's top players, including the top 10 in the world. This group includes Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau.
In addition, the three Major champions of the 2024 season to date (Scheffler, Schauffele and DeChambeu) and the four Major champions of 2023 (Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman) will be in attendance.
At Royal Troon, the venue for the event, there will be 22 former Open Championship champions, including Ben Curtis, David Duval and Paul Lawrie, who will not be playing. This group includes several legends, such as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
There is also a group of young stars in the field on the verge of achieving a breakthrough, including Ludvig Åberg, Joaquin Niemann, Tom Kim, Sahith Theegala, and Akshay Bhatia.
