Keegan Bradley will be the US Captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup, to be played at the Bethpage Black Golf Course in Farmingdale, New York in September. With Tiger Woods dropping out of contention for captaincy, the PGA of America named Bradley in the role.
In an exclusive interview with Sirius XM's Michael Breed, Bradley spoke about his reaction to the appointment:
" I was a little bit uncomfortable with some of the guys. You know, my idols, who were looked over for this position. I needed a second to figure that out. I don't think I'll have a bigger surprise in my life but, something Seth [Waugh] said to me was 'Your number was called, it's time for you to step up'. When he told me that, it sort of hit me that this is a heavy job. "
Bradley spoke honestly about his "strange" feelings after being announced as the 2025 Ryder Cup captain. In the interview, the PGA Tour star reveals that he called former captains and players to begin immediate preparations for the tournament. When Breed asked Bradley if he thought that the role was too overwhelming for him, he said:
" There was a part of me that was a little uncomfortable with some of the people that were passed over. That was my main worry. I have great respect for the game but also, the players that come before me and also my heroes, who obviously have the resume to do this. That was a strange feeling. "
Bradley had received the phone call about the appointment while he was with his wife, Jillian Stacey. It was after their kids had fallen asleep. As the conversation ended, the couple burst out laughter. The American was "surprised and shocked" by one of his life's "strangest moments" and did not sleep that night as he spent the time thinking about the event.
Keegan Bradley talks about Micheal Jordan's involvement with the Ryder Cup

In the Sirius XM interview with Breed, Bradley also spoke about Michael Jordan and his connection with the Ryder Cup. The golfer had met Jordan for the very first time during the 2012 Ryder Cup.
According to Bradley, Jordan is one of the Ryder Cup's biggest fans. The basketball star has attended almost every single edition of the Ryder Cup since the mid-90s except the 2022 edition in Rome. When asked if he'd consider having Jordan as a non-playing vice-captain, Bradley said,
" He's not gonna be a vice-captain. He's there for me if I need advice on golf, life, Ryder Cup - he's always there. He's one of the best friends I can ever have. I'll use his knowledge as I do with everything. ... He'll be pissed if we lose."
